What the students are saying…
“I very much enjoyed the trip that the JHC arranged to the nearby Queens Jewish community. I was inspired by and learned so much about the closeness of the Jewish community and how to help others in need.” R. K.
“When I was 18 years old and starting college, I was looking for a career. Thanks to the JHC Program on my campus I found much more. I now have a strong connection to my Jewish heritage, confidence, and direction in life.” B. T.
“This weekend I was shown what it’s like to experience Shabbat in a Jewish community. Everyone opened their doors and gave me a warm welcome. Thank you JHC for making me feel like member of the Family!” H.B.
What We Offer
The JHC Collegiate Division serves the New York metropolitan area, with programs currently running at NCC, Hofstra, Adelphi, and CW Post-LIU Universities on Long Island. Under the leadership of Rabbi Yoni Katz and the Student Board of our campus students’ club, we are reaching out to the over 3,000 on-campus Jewish students: with leadership seminars, community and hotel Shabbatons, one-on-one learning, and study-with-a-buddy programs. Through trips to Israel; study retreats to Lake George and Lake Tahoe; and local field trips to Jewish communities, we combine learning with rich Jewish experiences.
The importance of our program resides in the strengthening of Jewish identity, purpose, and meaning; in cultivating leadership abilities in the Jewish college students we connect with; and in providing life skills that can enrich the lives of our students as well as the lives of others through the integration of various Jewish community experiences.
