Rabbi PortnoyRabbi Naftali Portnoy, Director

Rabbi Naftali Portnoy received his ordainment from the Rabbinical Seminary of America.  Since 1988 he has served as the Co-Director of the Jewish Heritage Center of Queens and Long Island, an internationally renowned and respected Outreach Center.  Together with Co-Director Rabbi Moshe Turk he developed this network of Educational Programs, which since 1987 has reached more than 15,000 Jewish Adults throughout the Metropolitan New York area showing the depth and beauty of our heritage. The Jewish Heritage Center is a dynamic, yet comfortable place, where questioning Jews can find guided growth in Torah.

Rabbi Moshe Turk, Director

Rabbi Moshe Turk received his ordainment from Yeshiva Chofetz Chaim, the Rabbinical Seminary of America.  He is the founding Co-Director of the Jewish Heritage Center of Queens and Long Island, an internationally renowned and respected Outreach Center.  Together with Co-Director Rabbi Naftali Portnoy, he developed its network of Educational Programs, which since 1987 has reached more than 15,000 Jewish Adults throughout the Metropolitan New York area showing the depth and beauty of our heritage. The Jewish Heritage Center is a dynamic, yet comfortable place, where questioning Jews can find guided growth in Torah.
 

r katz newRabbi Yoni Katz, College Campus Outreach

Rabbi Yoni Katz has been involved in community outreach for the past seven years in Suffolk County. He learned for more than ten years in Yeshiva Chofetz Chaim and received a masters degree from Adelphi University. He specializes in teaching ethics, Hebrew Reading comprehension, and ice skating lessons to his kids. Rabbi Katz joined the staff of the Jewish Heritage Center to further strengthen college campus outreach programming. His main focus is the Hofstra University Campus where he has been very involved in programming and one-on-one learning. Rabbi Katz has also been successfully recruiting students for additional learning programs and involving them in various Jewish activities and trips.

Eliyahu Turk is currently studying for S’micha under Rabbi Shlomo Heineman from The Star K in Baltimore.  He has spent over ten years learning in the Rabbinical Seminary of America and its affiliates. It was there that Eliyahu gained an appreciation for working for the klal and helping our youth. Eliyahu has a Master’s in Education: Guidance and Counseling from American Public University and has worked as a school counselor in the NYC Public school System.  He has led the very successful Teen Minyan and at the Jewish Heritage Center for the last two years.  Together with Avraham Portnoy he plans on using his expertise in working with children of all ages to provide dynamic programming and services to enhance the spiritual growth of Jewish Children and Adolescents.

 

Avraham PortnoyAvraham Portnoy, Director Youth Division

Avraham Portnoy is currently studying for S’micha under Rabbi Shlomo Heineman of the Star K in Baltimore. Avraham has spent eleven years post high school learning in Yeshivah; eight of which were in Zichron Aryeh. Avraham is currently working on his Master’s in Education: Guidance and Counseling. Until joining the staff or the Jewish Heritage Center Avraham served as a popular and engaging Rebbi (teacher) at Yam Hatorah Yeshiva high school in Bayswater, N.Y.. Together with Eliyahu, he plans on bringing his open and caring personality to help Jewish children in their growth and journey in Judaism.
